Here is some of my school work my Mom said to put on here!

''Shabbat''

Two challot is known as ''double bread.'' They remind us how the Israelites were in the wilderness and they gathered a double portion on Friday. The cloth covering recalls the dew which was on the manna. The parents bless their children at supper. For a boy they would say, ''My God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh.'' For a girl they would say, ''My God make you like Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, and Leah.

Friday night service in the conservative synagogue are short. Some prayers include a song with the words:''Come my friends let us welcome the Sabbath the bride!'' Kiddush is said over wine in the synagogue just as it was long ago!

The Sabbath meal is to honor the Sabbath. In some synagogues, candles are lit and Kiddush is said. After the meal, Kiddush or (Grace) is said and the family chats.

In our time, in many Jewish homes, Shabbat is celebrated with joy. The celebration of shabbat begins early on Friday. The house is cleaned and the table is set with the prettiest tablecloth and dishes. On the table are candlesticks with candles, and the kiddush cup. The mother lights the candles. In some homes the daughters light a candle. The mother covers her eyes and says the blessing. In some homes the men light candles.

Thank you for reading!
